More public high school choices

We badly need more public high school places in the east, so that parents have a genuine choice about where to send their children.

We badly need more public high school places in the east, so that parents have a genuine choice about where to send their children.

The opening of Inner Sydney High School this year, which draws from Potts Point, Elizabeth Bay, Edgecliff, Darling Point, Centennial  Park, Woollahra and Paddington, has helped alleviate some of the pressure. Inner Sydney High School is a quality public high school and I have been impressed with their leadership.

As a result of Inner Sydney’s opening, there should be less pressure for spaces on Rose Bay Secondary High School. Work is also underway to upgrades at Randwick Boys High and Randwick Girls High, which should make these better facilities.

But I believe, in the longer term, we need to find a site for a second public high school in the east, and to begin planning for that.
